Saturday, Day 24

Hola mis amigos!

Katie and I got ourselves moving fairly early this morning to go to the beach when we saw that the weather was so nice. We each grabbed a breakfast sandwich from the café across the street and headed to the metro. We made it to the beach before noon! It was the perfect day for the beach and everyone in the program, with the exception of two, decided to come! The girls all rented chairs for 4 euros and the guys played in the sand- how typical. There are hundreds of ladybugs on the beach, so the guys claimed they were building a ladybug fortress- so funny. All of us were even able to go into the water for a little while because it wasn't miserably cold. Some more daring girls in the group, not myself, even swam topless. Not that anyone noticed considering almost every single women we saw on the beach was missing a top. Before we left the beach, I put on my KD tank and a girl (wearing a bathing suit top, haha) asked if I was a Kappa Delta. Turns out, she was a KD from Old Miss and she is student teaching in Valencia for the summer. Such a small world!!

Around four, Katie and I finally the beach to go back to our favorite pizza restaurant one last time. I got the Hawaiian again and it was better than the first time I ordered it. On the metro back to our homestay, we met some students from Florida State. They have 120 students staying in Valencia for the summer. I swear sometimes that we've met more Americans in Spain than we have Spainards. There are students from Hampden Sydney, JMU, UVA, FSU, Old Miss, Ohio.

When we made it back to our homestay- we laid around, showered, listened to some music.. anything that we could do to avoid doing homework. Jamel and Gemma left for a night out on the town around 7 and left us with some yummy pasta salad (that thankfully didn't have tuna!!!). We invited Jake, John, Courtney, and Katelyn to come hangout at our homestay before we met up with the rest of our group at the Cathedral. We all decided as a group that we wanted to go to a huge nightclub in the Arts and Sciences building for our last Saturday in Valencia. Usually, the cover charge is 10-20 euros, but Millie's homestay sister got us all on the list for free! The club was two stories- upstairs: all outside, several different bars, a dj, VIP sections and the downstairs: inside, another dj, several bars. We literally danced the night away until we were so exhausted and had to call it a night. All the Spainards were still having  a blast when we left.. Again, we cannot keep up with the Valencia social life. Even though we got home when the birds were chirping, we still beat our host parents home.

We all definitely agreed that this was one of the best days we've had in Valencia yet! I can't believe that we leave in just a few days. Hasta Luego!
